2014 Player Qualification/Classification
Please read the criteria carefully. If you have ANY questions please do not leave it until the last minute. Players that do not qualify WILL NOT be permitted to play. Or the team may be bumped to a higher division without notice. The higher entry fee will be due immediately. If you wish to have your status changed, you must apply to the CPPL directly for re-classification.
X-ball addendum: Any player who has played in any organized Xball league (in the highest division) anytime in their career is automatically classified a D1 player in the CPPL. Any player who has played a division one step down from the top division in an organized Xball league anytime in their career is automatically classified a D2 player in the CPPL. Regular player points still apply for all other events where a winning team is determined at a normal event. The D2 rule will be given select exceptions at the beginning of 2012. All players must apply for reclassification though. There will be no exceptions for Division 1 players.
This classification system has been used successfully in the CPPL for many years and is fair and equitable. If you don't understand it, please just register for your card and we will figure out the rest for you. Make sure your team registers early as it is every captain’s responsibility to ensure your team is qualified for the selected division!
This division includes all 1st year CPPL Series tournament players. Players who have played in Division 3 or higher in any paintball tournament in their entire career (prior to Jan 1st of the current season) are not eligible to play Division 4.
Division 4 is a beginner division - Total allowable team accumulated player points are as follows:
5 man - Maximum 100 Player Points Permitted
XDIV - Maximum 150 Player Points Permitted
This division will include all players that do not meet the D4 status. It will also include the Top 3 teams from the previous season. Any 5man team that has accumulated more than 100 CPPL points must play no lower than D3.
Division 3 is a recreational division - Total allowable team accumulated player points are as follows:
5 man – Maximum 175 Player Points Permitted
XDIV – Maximum 225 Player Points Permitted
This division will include all players and teams that have earned too many CPPL points to play D3. Any team that has earned more than 175 points in the last 2 years must play no lower than D2.
This division would include all players that do not meet the Div 3
Division 2 in a competitive division - Total allowable team accumulated player points are as follows:
5 man – Maximum 400 Player Points Permitted
XDIV – Maximum 450 Player Points Permitted
**NEW For 2014**
1 PRO player may play D2.
Only if there is NO D1 classification offered at the event, and the team must be less than 400 points.
All PRO players will be considered to have 300 points
OPEN or D1 this division would include all other players.
A player of any level may play OPEN. Including MAX of 2 NPPL/PSP PRO players on a 5Man roster.
Players must disclose all career history tournament placing/winnings in their application for membership. Failure to do so will result in your team being dropped from the event.
Points will be calculated by the CPPL for total player points in the following manner:
Player ranking points are earned as follows:
| (Division I)
35 points for first place;
30 points for second place;
25 points for third place;
20 points for first place;
15 points for second place;
15 points for third place;
15 points for first place;
10 points for second place;
05 points for third place;
10 points for first place;
7 points for second place;
05 points for third place;
The player point calculations will be determined by the CPPL. If you are unsure of which division to play, the easiest way to find out if your team qualifies is to have all of your players register for their CPPL player cards, and we will inform you. You can email us anytime firstname.lastname@example.org with questions.
Please make sure you are sure that everyone on your roster registers online early! If you add a player last minute at the event and your team does not qualify for the particular division the CPPL reserves it's right to bump you to a higher division without notice to your team.
The CPPL reserves its right to make adjustments and exceptions through the transition to our new system. Please let us know if you have any concerns or questions at the event.
